Full Movie: Failure to Dream (1986)

Melinda McWilliams (Lynn Pomeroy) had drove home from her mother (Melinda Dillon)'s house. Her husband Wayne (Ronnie Thomas) was already home with two children Lane and Lynn (Faron and Natalee Reeves). Melinda told Wayne that her brother Travis Barlow (Darrell Oglesby) will compete in a rodeo competition, and Wayne's friend Rodney (Danny Bess) was Travis' supporter.

Travis won the contest, and Wayne reads a children's story to Lane and Lynn. As his son Lane went to bed, Wayne, Melinda and Lynn were in bed about Travis' personal lives. The next morning, Wayne and Rodney were talking about Melinda, Travis and the kids.

Travis was with Melinda for the slight conversation about his rodeo career. Melinda told Travis about their dad's passing a year prior was the swiftest thing. Wayne was singing a Johnny Bond song "I Wonder Where You Are Tonight" to his daughter Lynn as Lane was drawing a picture of him and his dad. As Melinda was home, Lane shows a picture of him and his dad to his mom. That night, Wayne and Melinda were happy in love before Travis' next schedule.

The next morning, Melinda was with her mother about her brother's rodeo career, and she told her that Wayne was getting ready with Rodney at the bar. One song heard was "Stars on the Water" by Rodney Crowell. The next afternoon, Travis was killed by a bull, and made Melinda shocked as did Wayne. Melinda's mother watched the TV, and attempted suicide. Rodney saw Melinda and Travis' mother collapsed before headed to the psych ward.

The funeral was held a few days later, and Melinda and Wayne were upset about Travis as did the kids. Melinda told Wayne that she will write a letter about Travis' death. One song heard was "Letter to Home" by Glen Campbell. A few days later, Melinda's mother wrote for her about Travis' death and her suicide attempt. Lynn was crying as she wanted her daddy, and Wayne sang to her called "Hush Little Baby." Lane was with his mom about losing his uncle.

Wayne and Melinda were making love as one song "When I'm With You" by Ophelia Wright was played. And the next morning, Melinda decided to visit her mother, and she was discharged from the psych ward. Rodney sent roses for Melinda's mother. Melinda told Wayne that she will stay with the children as Wayne was going to visit Rodney.

Melinda was with the kids as they found Travis' gravestone with his real name Travis Randolph Barlow, and the birth and death dates were May 5, 1955 and July 26, 1985. Wayne finally saw the gravestone of Travis, and he hugged Melinda and the kids one more time before the credits.
