Jeff Burton in the Hall

In addition to Kevin Harvick and Larry Phillips, Jeff Burton is in the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2027. This afternoon, Jeff called his dear and good friend Marla about having a big time and his honor. Jeff will be 59 next month. Marla claims that afternoon that Chuck Howley will be 90 a day before Jeff's birthday. After five attempts, Jeff finally made it.

Shandon Meets Dystany

Marla's 25-year-old great-niece Shandon Medders was ready to race with a 34-year-old black racer from Virginia named Dystany Spurlock. Dystany races motorcycles previously, and Shandon was the neighbor of Tracy Leslie as a child. A few weeks ago, they paired for the first time before Dystany made history in Dover for the truck race won by Kyle Busch.

One Month Ago: John Fitzgerald's Obituary

John Fitzgerald passed away surrounded by family on April 14, 2026, two days shy of his 78th birthday. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. During the last 21 years, John beat lung cancer twice and fought multiple ailments. John was born on April 16, 1948, to Donald and Muriel Fitzgerald in Southbridge, Massachusetts. John played football at Southbridge High School where he met the love of his life - Sue Bachand - in Geometry class. John received a scholarship to play football at Boston College. Sue and John were married on May 30, 1970. John is a member of the Southbridge High School Hall of Fame and The Boston College Hall of Fame. The Dallas Cowboys drafted John in the fourth round of the 1970 NFL Draft. He was fortunate to be with the team during 12 winning seasons. John was on the taxi squad his first year during Super Bowl V and a backup for Super Bowl VI. He was the starting center for Super B...

Flashback: Marla's Memorial Birthday Prayer For First Husband

On Oct. 19, 2025, Marla was hanging out with several Dallas Cowboys players Leighton Vander Esch, Dat Nguyen, Tony Dorsett, Drew Pearson, Emmitt Smith, Roger Staubach, Cliff Harris, Mark Washington, Doug Cosbie, Jay Novacek, Dez Bryant, John Fitzgerald and others. They went to the grave in Dallas where it had her first husband Marty's name on it. Marla had said a prayer for Marty. Marla's current husband Kyle Walter was with John's wife Sue on the other side. The Cowboys beat the Commanders 44-22.

Marla Shocks on First Love's Passing

Before Shane Van Gisbergen won at Watkins Glen, Craig Morton passed away on Shane's 37th birthday and even Weller Whitley's first birthday. Craig was Marla's first love. Marla was totally shocked this afternoon when Jerry Jones called Marla on the phone about Craig, who passed away two days ago. She dated Craig after she turned 13, and eventually broke up during the dance. Marla said in 1991, "I saw Mick Tingelhoff in the same limousine with Craig, and I broke up with him after talking about his first wife." Kym was Craig's last wife.

Shane Wins For the Seventh Time

Shane Van Gisbergen won today for the seventh time, and first this year at Watkins Glen. Marla was having a mother's day party with Biddie Jordan and Sue Fitzgerald, whose husbands passed away a few months apart. Marla was wearing the Keith Whitley shirt at the time, and Shane turned 37 yesterday. The women are watching the race, and Shane did a great job.

Flashback: 1969 Players Reunites 1983

In September 1983, Patty Michael attends the banquet for 1969 Minnesota Vikings players. Her ex-boyfriend Ron Yary is in California for a school photo shoot. Bobby Bell is a surprise guest for his college friends Carl Eller and Milt Sunde. In addition to Ron, Joe Kapp, Alan Page, Paul Krause and Wally Hilgenberg were absent. Paul and Wally were in Texas with Patty's sister Maverine and her friend Marla Medders for hunting. However, Marla does not like hunting.

Flashback: 1989 Flag Football

It was April 1989, two months after Tom Landry was fired, the flag football was held for the legends of the Redskins and the Cowboys. Marla and her two children, Faron, 6, and Natalee, 4, were attending the game. Faron was wearing the Tracy Leslie t-shirt, and Natalee has a flower dress. Diron Talbert had a reunion with Marla, and several Cowboys players were on hand. The video shows John Fitzgerald carrying Natalee while Marla interviewed him, and Faron was with Diron about the shirt.

Flashback: Marla's Reunion With Her Brothers 1984

In early November 1984, as Marla refuses to go to San Francisco to face off with the Bengals, her six older brothers Jim, Chuck, Johnny, Duane, Arlie and Harold were having a reunion with her in Dallas. As the Cowboys had the all star list, they had a concert. For the first and last time since the 1973 disbandment, the siblings performed three songs, "Thanks," "He Did it All For Me" with a duet with D.D. Lewis, and "Jesus is Coming Soon" with all of the Cowboys players, including Danny White, who sings the last verse. The siblings reunited again in 1986 at their hometown of Ames, Iowa, and this is the last time that the siblings went on to sing in public. Ten years later, they reunited again with a funeral of their mother Margaret.

Marla Meets 101-Year-Old Iwo Jima Survivor

This afternoon, Marla and Kyle visited the 101-year-old Iwo Jima survivor who sings the national anthem at Texas Motor Speedway. His name is Don Graves. He was born on May 3, 1925, and previously lived in Wisconsin. Don remembers Marla as a young girl performing with her six brothers in the Midwest. Chase Elliott won the race since his first Texas win on Marla and Kyle's seventh anniversary.

Flashback: The Medderses On Tour

In September 1972, Marla and her six older brothers had taped a new documentary movie called "The Medderses On Tour" which was released in January 1973. Flashback: Dirty Dozen Reunion December 2025

On Dec. 14, 2025, Marla was there with Maverine for the Cowboys and the Vikings game. Several Dirty Dozen guys were attending were Pat Donovan, Thomas Henderson, Randy White, Rolly Woolsey, Bob Breunig, Randy Hughes, Burton Lawless and Scott Laidlaw. The 13th member Percy Howard is the free agent and a one catch wanderer. Not here was Kyle Davis, Mike Hegman and Herb Scott, and one dead was Mitch Hoopes. This was Scott's last attendance until he died a month later on Jan. 29, 2026. Marla claims that she hasn't talked to Scott since 1986 while having a conversation with D.D. Lewis and Larry Grantham, who were both sober. She also hasn't talked to Rolly for almost 50 years. Maverine said about Fred Cox, who died after he attended the 50th anniversary Vikings for 1969 in 2019. Marla was proud to have the dirty dozen's 50th anniversary. The title is after the movie in 1967 starring Lee Marvin and Jim Brown.
