Marla's Fan Moments: Kyle From Alabama

In 1989, Marla was in Talladega meeting with 15-year-old Kyle Wimbish from Andalusia, Alabama. He was the huge Tracy Leslie fan, even Davey Allison and Marla herself. Marla was wearing the Keith Whitley shirt at the time as Tracy had a final Talladega win that July. The first was two months prior. Kyle did it again in 1990 with his family at Daytona Beach.

In 1993, Kyle saw Marla and Tracy on TV on their comedy show until 1998, and Kyle was blessed to be part of it, but made it briefly in the "Trade in Or Trade Out" episode where he buys Dick Brooks' big Chameleon Sunglasses die cast. Kyle was in Daytona Beach in 1994 taking photos of Tracy, and there was almost 2-year-old Cheyenne Langston, who was in Tracy's race car, Kyle said she was a scene stealer. Kyle was the video camera man for little Cheyenne's scene stealing moments when Tracy and Marla were around.

Kyle was also a photographer for the rest of the drivers like Tracy, and he usually gets pranks with Tracy's youngest brother Ben and Cheyenne's maternal uncle Steve Shavers. The last time Kyle saw Tracy was in 1999 in Charlotte for ARCA when Kirk Shelmerdine, the former crew chief for Dale Earnhardt won the race. Kyle lives in Talladega, Alabama.

Flashback: Marla and the Statlers' Movies Clips

In 1978, during her "Sinners and Saints" special. Marla had four movie clips in which the Statler Brothers had their favorites. First, in "It's a Wonderful Life," Harold Reid played George, Marla played Mary and Marla's niece Leslie played Zuzu. Lew DeWitt as Clarence, Phil Balsley as Billy, and Don Reid as Henry. In "Giant," Phil played Bick, Marla played Leslie, Harold as Jett, Don as Bawley, and Lew as a friend. In "The Music Man" Don played Harold Hill, Harold as Marcellus, Marla as Marian, and Phil and Lew as church goers.
