Flashback: Celebrity Race 1998

On Oct. 2, 1998, another celebrity race was held two days after Adam Petty won the race in Charlotte for ARCA. Rusty Wallace won the pole for the draw. 10 Busch and 10 Winston cup drivers, 2 ladies and two Medders cousins are competing for the race.

Adam Medders was driving for Wally Dallenbach Jr. in his #50 Budweiser car, and Jeremy Medders in a #97 Chad Little car. Lynn Marie Peterson in a #90 Dick Trickle car, and Tabitha Welch in the #33 Ken Schrader car.

Randy LaJoie had an accident in the first caution, and Robert Pressley's right shoulder is sore, and Tracy Leslie, who was not in the Winston and Busch rides, gets in relief. Marla Medders interviewed Robert after Tracy gets in. Before that, she interviewed Tracy. This is the last time Tracy was interviewed clean shaven before he had a goatee. Elliott Sadler had the handling problem before Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Gordon crashed. Ed Berrier also had a handling problem as Marla interviewed him. Two Dales, Earnhardt and Jarrett and Jeremy all crashed before the last caution. 

Lynn Marie beats Joe Bessey about half a car length. Adam finishes 3rd, and Robert (relieved by Tracy) finished 8th. Lynn Marie thanks Dick and Junie Donlavey for their contribution.

Flashback: Marla and the Statlers' Movies Clips

In 1978, during her "Sinners and Saints" special. Marla had four movie clips in which the Statler Brothers had their favorites. First, in "It's a Wonderful Life," Harold Reid played George, Marla played Mary and Marla's niece Leslie played Zuzu. Lew DeWitt as Clarence, Phil Balsley as Billy, and Don Reid as Henry. In "Giant," Phil played Bick, Marla played Leslie, Harold as Jett, Don as Bawley, and Lew as a friend. In "The Music Man" Don played Harold Hill, Harold as Marcellus, Marla as Marian, and Phil and Lew as church goers. And "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," Marla played nurse Ratched, Lew as Cheswick, Phil as Taber, Don as Harding and Harold as Bancini. Marla's big brother Harold Medders played Randall McMurphy.
