One Year Ago: Tracy's Mom's Obituary

Kathryn Ann Leslie, age 90, of Purdin, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024, at her home in Moberly, Missouri.

Memorial services will be held Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Tom Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Haseville Cemetery in Haseville, Missouri. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Dementia Society of America or Leukemia Research Foundation may be left at or mailed to Wright Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, Missouri 64628.

Kathryn Ann, daughter of Howard George and Christian (Hosking) Brusseau was born, May 28, 1934, in Amasa, Michigan. On June 5, 1954, she married Billy Leslie who preceded her in in death on October 14, 1999.

Kathryn was a retiree from the Bank of Brookfield Purdin in Brookfield. She enjoyed road trips, watching movies, taking trips to visit her family and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Billie Ann Bennington and husband, Edgar of Moberly, Lee Leslie of Mooresville, North Carolina, Tracy Leslie and wife, Patricia of Algonac, Michigan, Kari Dunn of Los Angeles, California, Shelly Shipman and husband, Joel of Greentop, Missouri, Benjamin Leslie and wife, Cybil of Brookfield, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; greatgrandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, John Brusseau and wife, Donna of Houghton Lake, Michigan; and many loved nieces, nephews and numerous cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Timothy Leslie; three sisters, Paula Brusseau, Billie Joyce Craft and Patricia Jones; and one brother, George Brusseau.

Flashback: Marla and the Statlers' Movies Clips

In 1978, during her "Sinners and Saints" special. Marla had four movie clips in which the Statler Brothers had their favorites. First, in "It's a Wonderful Life," Harold Reid played George, Marla played Mary and Marla's niece Leslie played Zuzu. Lew DeWitt as Clarence, Phil Balsley as Billy, and Don Reid as Henry. In "Giant," Phil played Bick, Marla played Leslie, Harold as Jett, Don as Bawley, and Lew as a friend. In "The Music Man" Don played Harold Hill, Harold as Marcellus, Marla as Marian, and Phil and Lew as church goers.
