Flashback: Celebrity Race in Homestead
On Oct. 28, 1995, the celebrity race was held in Homestead, Florida as Marla's nephews Cliffie, Noel, Billy Ray, Jeremy and Jason were with ten Busch drivers. Cliffie was driving for #72 Detroit Gasket for Ron Parker as interim driver Todd Bodine was in Phoenix. Tracy Leslie was already released from the team and Todd won at Rockingham. Mike Dillon was hired for next year.
Noel was driving for Buz McCall as Ward Burton was also in Phoenix after he had a Rockingham win. Jeremy was driving for Terry Labonte's #14 car, helping out with Bob Labonte. Billy Ray was in #20 for Dick Moroso and Dennis Setzer was added the next week. And Jason was in the Mike Wallace car as Mike was still in Phoenix.
Ten drivers were Chad Little, Johnny Benson Jr., Jeff Fuller, Mike McLaughlin, Jason Keller, Tim Fedewa, Phil Parsons, Rodney Combs, David Green and Patty Moise were on the list. Patty's husband Elton Sawyer was in Phoenix at the time. Cliffie beats Chad, and it's another shocking moment for the Parker team. Dennis had a brief visit with Billy Ray after Billy Ray finished 3rd. Terry, Mike, Todd and Ward were headed to Homestead the next week where they finished 13th, 15th, 27th and 31st. Patty failed to qualify in that race.
