Flashback: Vern's Funeral 1989

On August 23, 1989, Marla's cousin Cyndy called Marla on the phone while she was in San Francisco and said that Cyndy's brother Vern died of alcohol poisoning. He was 41. His best friend Robert Pressley was in Bristol finishing 20th two days later praying for Vern. Before that, he told Cleta Medders that he and Vern were the birthday boys whose birthday was on April 8. Vern was a lifelong bachelor.

On August 26, Marla went to Asheville for a funeral with her mother Margaret and five of six brothers, Jim, Johnny, Duane, Arlie and Cleta's husband Harold. Marla was sitting in the pew with Harold and Cleta, and in the back, it was Robert. After the service was over, Robert had a chat with Marla outside before the gravesite in Asheville.

The Marla Comedy Show 1993-1998

The Marla Comedy Show is a sitcom show that ran from 1993-1998. It premiered in Nov. 20, two months before the Statler Brothers Show had the third season. Marla played Marla Boone, a hard working mother of Reid (Reid Jones) and Cheyenne (Cheyenne Langston), and a wife of Tracy, who was played by Tracy Leslie. Jeff and Ward Burton played Marla's brothers from the first season. Joe Bessey, who was a main and recurring member, Chuck Bown, Rodney Combs and Elton Sawyer played as Tracy's brothers. Patty Moise is Elton's wife same as real life in the last three seasons. Hermie Sadler played as a neighbor who is a single father of a Down Syndrome boy as is Tim Fedewa, Dennis Setzer, and Jason Keller. Joe Diffie's son Tyler played Hermie's son Brandon.
