Flashback: Frustrations For Tracy, Robert and Shelly

On Sept. 11, 1998 at Richmond, Tracy Leslie finished 15th leading 14 laps, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the race. Shelly Walther interviewed Tracy for running so hard before he was released from the Hensleys. The next day, Robert Pressley injured his right shoulder and sat out for two weeks or so. At Dover, Tracy was in Hal Browning's car before Hal took over, and Hut Stricklin fills in for Robert. Shelly interviewed Joe Bessey and Faron Reeves. Faron was wearing the Wally Hilgenberg jersey at the time.

At Martinsville, Shelly collapsed after the fourth caution involving Jimmy Spencer. Ted Musgrave had a blister before Steve Grissom took over. Shelly is now hospitalized for heat exhaustion and heart condition. Randy Medders decided to fill in for Dennis Setzer during the race, but Dennis said he is okay. Ricky Rudd won the race and Hut was too late to get in relief. Randy fills in for Shelly at Charlotte. The celebrity race was held as Robert was still sore on his shoulder, and Tracy, who was not in Busch and Winston races, gets in relief after the first caution, and Marla Medders interviewed Robert after Tracy gets in. Lynn Marie Peterson, who subs for Dick Trickle, nips Joe by a finish, and Adam, Randy's brother finishes 3rd in the #50 Budweiser car.

Shelly is still absent at Talladega and Gateway, and Robert is good to go. Tracy failed three times, and one withdrew in Homestead driving for Sheena Eller because Sheena was with Mark Krogh, who also failed alongside his brother Jeff. Tracy went to ARCA in June of next year. Shelly went to Phoenix after a three week hospital stay for her heart condition. Shelly interviewed Ted before the race, and gave a big hug for her big wishes.

Before that, three Panthers football teammates Eric Davis, Kerry Collins and Norbert Davids-Garrido visited Shelly at the hospital before heading to Dallas. One hornet Brad Miller and three hurricanes Ron Francis, Keith Primeau and Kent Manderville also attends as did Joe, Rich Bickle, Jeremy Mayfield, Randy LaJoie, Elliott Sadler and Casey Atwood.
