Meet Marla's Mother's Family

Erlie was born on Oct. 6, 1900, she was the first of two children with younger brother Conley, who died in October 1929 of suicide. Conley had two children Elsie, who died in 1967, and a son Crawford Conley, who died in 1974. Crawford has three children, Marlis, Ronnie and Lane. Ronnie has a son named Jackson.

Erlie herself married Til Medlin in 1921, and he died in January 1950 three years after he lost his wife and was arrested for drunk driving before their daughter Margaret got married. Til's younger brother is Reid Melton, who died in 1953. She previously dated Dee Lampton, the silent star in his own right who worked with Harold Lloyd and his own series called "Skinny." Dee died in 1919 after one year of dating. Erlie died on Feb. 5, 1947, the same day as Darrell Waltrip was born.

They had three children:
Lonnie Reid, who was born on July 26, 1924 and died of a car accident on Sept. 13, 1982.
Johnny Clay, who was born on July 10, 1928 and died of a car accident on Apr. 25, 1988.
Margaret Dean, who was born on Aug. 17, 1929 and died on Sept. 5, 1996.

Lonnie has three children, Chuck, born on Feb. 13, 1946 and died on May 31, 1995 of cancer, Vernon Bruce on Apr. 8, 1948 and died on Aug. 23, 1989 of alcohol poisoning, and Cyndy, who was born on Sept. 11, 1949.

Chuck is married and has three children, Tammy, Spence and Harold. Spence had a son Rusty, and Harold had two children Cody and Lily.

Johnny has two children, Dave, who was born on Mar. 9, 1950, and died on Apr. 2, 1993 of a car accident, and Tricia on Nov. 19, 1952 and died on Jan. 3, 2001 of cancer.
