Flashback: Duet Problems
In 1993, Marla was one of the members who picks out a duet with Reba McEntire with a song called "Does He Love You." Prior to that, Reba invited Wynonna to record, but she did not like that. Trisha Yearwood tries to record, but she was with Travis Tritt on tour, and Marla also tries to record, but had her part time shift in real estate. Reba doesn't have plans until Linda Davis came by to record, and it did. Years later, Linda was slated to reunite with Reba for her rerecording song, but stayed with her oldest daughter. Reba picks Dolly Parton to record the same song. Reba and Marla did record "If I Were You" from Marla's duet album that was written by Billy Dean.
Way back in 1984, Marla was one of the female singers to pick out with Kenny Rogers and James Ingram in a song called "What About Me." When Olivia Newton-John left, Kenny picked Marla when she was a few months pregnant, but the recording was too pitchy, days later, Kenny called Kim Carnes to record the song, and it did.
Let's do this right now, in 1997, Sammy Kershaw had a duet version with Terri Clark in "Love of My Life." In 1999, Shania Twain recorded with Bryan White in "From This Moment On." In 2023, Tim McGraw also had a duet version with Harrison Nitschke in "Standing Room Only," but Tim's solo was too rotten to know. Tracy Lawrence had a little trio with Tim and Kenny Chesney in "Find Out Who Your Friends Are," but Tracy's solo version was too rotten until it reached #1 on the charts.
In 2007, Chesney and Reba recorded "Every Other Weekend," but songwriter Skip Ewing took over. In 2002, Kid Rock's "Picture" was recorded with Sheryl Crow, but later added Allison Moorer. In 2021, Dustin Lynch recorded with Lauren Alaina in "Thinking 'Bout You," but Mackenzie Porter also recorded because Lauren's with Jon Pardi in another tune. In 1997, both LeAnn Rimes and Trisha recorded separately called "How Do I Live." Rimes' parents don't want her on the soundtrack of Con Air because of the R film, but Trisha is. In 2010, Keith Urban recorded "I'm In" with Marla's daughter Natalee as a super vocalist. No music video added for Keith for the first time. She also recorded with Keith called "Nobody Wins" from her 2012 album.
Let's talk about it now, Harrison Nitschke recorded with Priscilla Block called "Nothing Less Broken" as a second single after "Waiting in Line," but Priscilla was with Justin Moore in "You, Me, & Whiskey." Harrison later added Cheyenne Reid to do the same song.
